The Dragon Bridge is located in Da Nang in Vietnam. This bridge is quite particular as it takes on the form of a dragon which crosses the Han River, connecting the city center’s two neighborhoods – Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son. The bridge is made of iron and concrete and features six lanes to suit heavy traffic. The bridge weighs 8,000 tons and runs a length of about half a mile and a width of about 40 yards. What’s so special about this bridge? It can breathe fire, water and even change color!

Dragon-Bridge-VietnamThe Dragon Bridge cost over 85 million dollars and was designed by an American company to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. It officially opened to traffic in March 2013 and today thousands of cars cross it every day, which has slowly made the port city of Da Nang a new economic and cultural center

The Dragon Bridge is even more captivating thanks to the installation of a 2,500 LED lights system which creates a light show that brings the dragon to life at dawn. Thanks to the light show, the Dragon Bridge is visible from miles away.

Dragon-Bridge-VietnamThe intention of the bridge was to facilitate travel between neighborhoods split by the Han River but at the same time to grasp the attention of tourists. This functional work of art represents the time-honored symbol of the dragon which has been a revered Far East symbol since ancient times.
