The lotus flower has always been considered a symbol of purity in Chinese culture, as told by the name of the Lotus Building which stands on the artificial lake of the People's Park in Changzhou, located in Jiangsu Province in China.
Enveloped by a series of shimmering metal petals, the structure offers a unique and exciting atmosphere.
The Lotus Palace is spread over two floors and is inspired by the three phases of life of the flower - from bud to blossoming. The Lotus Building is a project of Studio 505 - Melbourne architects commissioned by the government of the Wujin district, inserted into the artificial lake of the People's Park as a civic and cultural reference point, in order to build ties with the community.
The structure, formed by a series of metal petals change color according to the reflections of light, the sun throughout the day and those of the night installations while emanate light. This project is an example of energy efficiency produced by a sophisticated geothermal plant.
Its particular form was created with the intention of stimulating locals, a kind of incentive for an urban development which is more and more long-lasting.
