Krubera Cave,Georgia
Krubera Cave is located in the western region of Georgia, near Abkhazia, in a huge complex of caves located in the Arabika Massif. It has an impressive record depth of 2,197 meters, beating the Lamprechtsofen, in the Austrian Alps by 80 meters.
Known by its Russian name of Voronya Cave, or "Cave of the Raven", it is considered the Mt Everest of the Caves, being the deepest abyss of Earth. The first to reach its depths were Italian speleologists Matteo Rivadossi and Giacomo Rossetti, with the collaboration of the Zazerkaly expedition. This made for a great team and the expedition lasted almost 3 days, creating difficulties while crossing a complicated path completely submerged in water.
A recent scientific expedition led to the discovery of an animal that lives in the deepest part of the Earth over 1,980 meters deep. It is an arthropod belonging to the Collemboli order, called Plutomurus Ortobalaganensis. It is an insect that feeds on fungus and decomposing matter.
The exploration of this cave is a real journey into the depths of Earth, an underground wonder capable of unveiling the mysteries and beauty of the last territories still unknown to man.
