Stingray City,Isole Cayman
Stingray City is a sand strip located in the North Sound of the Caribbean island of Grand Cayman. It is one of the most incredible lagoons in the world and is well known for its beauty and numerous breeds of animals that love to play and interact with swimmers.
Stingray City is located within a natural canal that runs through the coral reef. Beneath the surface, within its shallow waters that are protected by the barrier, the many breeds of animals roam free, attracted by the noise of boat engines. Legend has it that these animals would gather long ago when fishermen would return home from fishing expeditions. Upon their return, they would clean up their catch and throw the waste of fish into this area. This was a delicious feast worth waiting for!
Today the stingray that swim in this sandbank are extremely welcoming and quiet, and even let themselves be touched - almost like pets. They have learned to interact with people who need not be worried about their poisonous sting any longer. There are native guides to take you to see the animals up close and see this lagoon which has become a main tourist attraction of the island.
