Algar de Benagil,Portogallo
Algar de Benagil is a beautiful cave located along the coastal strip of Algarve, the southern region of Portugal which is famous for its beautiful beaches. It is a majestic sea cave formed by three openings: two arches of about 50 meters which overlook the ocean and a third circular crack with a diameter of about 20 meters perfectly situated at the top like a sort of skylight with natural sun rays beaming through.
There is a strip of golden sand beach of over 100 meters which is a small paradise immersed in one of the most unique settings in the world. Here you can listen to the powerful sounds of breaking ocean waves on the rocky walls, yet another wonder of nature sculpted by the fury of the elements. This is considered one of the most beautiful and evocative natural places on the planet.
The Grotto of Benagil is reachable only by sea and it can only be visited during low tide. Its strong ocean currents are not to be underestimated though there are a few fearless who choose to tackle the stretch of sea nonetheless. The tides are comparable to three Olympic pools so some adventure seekers tend to reach it via swimming or kayak. There are also safer ways of reaching this area such as organized tours and boat excursions that leave every day from the nearby beaches so tourists can reach the cave in complete tranquility.
