The Monte Gelato waterfalls, a natural beauty of Tuscia

The Monte Gelato waterfalls is located in the heart of Tuscia just 25 miles north of Rome, they are a true natural wonder, an uncontaminated beauty considered one of the most evocative places in the region of Lazio. This enchanting place is located within the lush forest of the Valle del Treja Regional Park, a protected area that extends over approximately 700 hectares, where nature presents itself in all its splendor, with rivers, woods, wildlife and spectacular water features. It is an oasis of authentic serenity, perfect for relaxing and regenerating away from the chaos of the city.

The Monte Gelato waterfalls are a system of jumps and pools with pure, crystalline waters that flow between the limestone boulders of the Treja River, a tributary of the Tiber. In addition to their extraordinary beauty, the entire area boasts a thousand-year history. Visitors can admire the remains of a Roman villa from the 1st century BC, including an ancient water mill built in the 19th century which remained in operation until the 1960s. Today the waterfalls have much to offer - visitors can take walks in the woods, explore scenic routes and stop in special picnic areas along the river banks. Naturally, the park's conservation and management regulations do not allow bathing.

The Monte Gelato Waterfalls are easily accessible from Rome and other nearby cities. It is possible to start from Mazzano Romano, a charming medieval village located nearby and then follow the various marked paths. Access to the site is completely free and can be visited every day from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM all year round - in the Summer to escape the suffocating heat of the city or Autumn to immerse yourself in the magical spectacle of the foliage.
