Bisate Lodge is the first luxury “safari camp” in Rwanda, a true eco-sustainable masterpiece capable of providing its guests with one of the most exciting and fascinating adventures in Africa. Located near the Volcanoes National Park, on the eroded slopes of a volcanic cone, the Bisate offers breathtaking views of the spectacular peaks of the Bisoke and Karisimbi volcanoes. The six opulent villas, completely immersed in the forest and featuring a sophisticated architectural design well integrated into the traditional rural landscape of the area, were created following the most careful principles for responsible ecotourism.
Each suite, rigorously built with natural materials, boasts a space of 91 square meters, each equipped with a terrace and top-notch amenities. All the interior furnishings are mirrored after the colors of the Rwandan territory, from a volcanic stone fireplace to tapestries with native decorations. This accommodation offers guests a dream stay, where they are invited to contribute to environmental reforestation and be in contact with local communities.
Rwanda is mainly known for gorilla trekking and the lodge's proximity to the Volcanoes National Park allows visitors to join expeditions to see these beautiful endangered primates up close. The whole area is home to an extensive variety of birds and mammals and in addition to the magnificent mountain gorillas it is also possible to hike in search of the Golden Monkey, a beautifully colored monkey, endemic to the area that lives in the bamboo forest of the Park in groups of 30 individuals.
Rwanda, despite the memory of the 1994 genocide, is today a stable and peaceful country, well managed and completely safe. Bisate Lodge is approximately a 3-hour drive from Kigali Airport. It is recommended to stay during the dry season which runs from June to mid-September. For more info and reservations, you can visit the site here: here.
