The Sigurtà Garden Park is one of the most loved nature oasis in the world, winning the 2013 Most
Beautiful Park award and also given second place as most beautiful Park in Europe 2015, by the
European Garden Award. It is a garden of great historic architectural interest, with its construction
dating back to 1617. It only opened to the public in 1978, and covers an area of ??600 thousand
square meters in the beautiful municipality of Valeggio sul Mincio, in the province of Verona.
The park is considered a place of great charm, colored by over a million flowers distributed among panoramic boulevards, ponds and huge lawns. From March to April you can admire the splendid blooms of over 300 varieties of tulips and an incredible 30,000 specimens of roses in May. It is a medley of wonderful nuances which continues into October with the birth of hyacinths, daffodils, alliums, myosotis and muscari. The park boasts 18 mirrors of water scattered throughout the park which offer the spectacle of aquatic plants such as lotus flowers, water lilies and water hyacinths.
Parco Sigurtà, which also boasts the richest boxwood collection in the world, houses a labyrinth of 1500 specimens of badger, a large century-old oak, a beautiful neo-Gothic Castelletto built by the Marquis Antonio Maffei in the last century, and many other extraordinary surprises. The garden is also home to a farm, which acts as an educational corner dedicated to children that can interact with donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and turkeys.
The garden is named after its owner Giuseppe Carlo Sigurtà, a Milanese industrialist who bought the property in 1941. Since then the park has been run with devotion and passion by the same family. The entire structure is open from March to November, and can be visited on foot or by bicycle. There is even the option of renting a golf cart so you can enjoy the park in pure comfort or opt for a greater overview by hopping on the panoramic train.
