Holiday Train Show, New York Botanical Garden's Christmas Event

Holiday-Train-Show-New-YorkNew York’s Holiday Train Show is a temporary exhibit that is repeated every year for the Christmas season. It is a fantastic show focused on toy trains which travel through recreated miniature landscapes made of tree bark and other natural materials.

Holiday-Train-Show-New-YorkThere are over a dozen model trains which run on the rails of an incredible miniature-sized reproduction of New York City’s most iconic landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge, the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rockefeller Center and 150 other buildings that have made NYC what it is today. All of the recreations are made exclusively with organic materials such as bark, leaves and twigs.

The Holiday Train Show takes place in New York’s Botanical Gardens Haupt Conservatory, which is located in the Bronx. This stunning museum of fauna is considered an institution to NYC, adding to the city’s national heritage since 1967. The Botanical Gardens span over half a mile and include 50 themed gardens which house over 1 million plants which are both exhibited and preserved, including some of the most famous rosettes in the world.

Holiday-Train-Show-New-YorkThe botanical gardens offer a beautiful backdrop to the miniature historic buildings during the NYC train-show, creating a fascinating and lush scenery for New York in miniature. The trains ride along a track that runs along the entire miniature NYC route for over a quarter of a mile.
