The Skylodge Adventure Suites offer three completely transparent capsules suspended at 400 meters above the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru. It is a hotel which is out of the ordinary, to say the least. Developed by the company Natura Vive, this hotel is for proper adventure seekers who are willing to spend a night that’s a bit… well unusual. The structure is nicknamed the “Condor’s Nest”, as it offers a breathtaking view of one of the highest peaks of the ancient and seductive Peruvian empire.
There are only three suites to choose from, each built with a special aerospace aluminum frame and weather-resistant polycarbonate panels that are 24 x 8 feet in size. They can accommodate up to 8 people and are also equipped with a dining room and a private bathroom. Six windows and four ventilation ducts guarantee a pleasant atmosphere.
All capsules are powered by solar panels that store energy in special batteries. Each bathroom contains a sink and an ecological toilet which transforms solid human waste into an organic final product that can also be reused in agriculture. All the internal fabrics, including the curtains, are made of 100% natural cotton.
To reach these cocoon-like structure, you have to take a steep path followed by a cableway or arrive with a 400 foot climb on Via Ferrata, open only to professional climbers. The price per person per night is about $450 and includes breakfast, a gourmet dinner and the assistance of expert bilingual guides. It is not a cheap stay, but living the unique experience of sleeping overlooking a rocky cliff with an incredible breathtaking view is well worth it.
